Arizona Photography Locations | Horseshoe Bend, Page AZ

Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon are both located in Page, AZ. If you are driving to Page, AZ I recommended stopping at both for outstanding photo opportunities. My suggestion would be to photograph Antelope Canyon in the morning/afternoon hours, then head toward Horseshoe Bend for sunset.

There is a $10/car fee to visit Horseshoe Bend. Be prepared on weekends, holidays and peak season for crowds. The have built a larger parking area, but on some of the most popular days/weekends the parking lot may fill up requiring you to take a shuttle. The view is completely worth it. Be prepared for a short 1.5 mile round-trip hike from the parking lot to the overlook. The trail is even terrain and accessible. Comfortable shoes and drinking water are highly recommended, especially in the Arizona summers. Earlier in 2020 they installed a rail at the viewing area and made some improvements, such as shaded areas to the trail. The rail does not encompass the whole viewing area, so be careful and watch your footing as it is a 100 ft drop down to the water. The Colorado River flows from Glen Canyon and Lake Powell, through Horseshoe Bend before continuing on to the Grand Canyon.

As with most landscape photography it is recommended that you visit during sunrise or sunset for the most dramatic pictures. A wide angle lens is a must, but you can get some unique shots with a zoom lens as well. While exploring the area be sure to also visit Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam.
